What to Expect When You Get a Patio Cover: From Consultation to Installation Day

A clear, no-surprises walkthrough of our process — from the first visit to the final walkthrough.

Completed patio cover installation on a Southern California home

Most homeowners have never hired a patio cover contractor before, so the process feels like a black box. Here's exactly how it works with us — no surprises.

    Step 1: Free in-home consultation

We come to you. We measure your space, look at your roofline and fascia, talk about how you use your backyard, and discuss budget honestly. You'll see physical color samples and photos of completed projects in your area.

This visit usually takes 30–60 minutes, and there's zero pressure — you get information, not a sales pitch. How to prepare: nothing, really. Just think about what bothers you about your backyard today and what you'd love to do out there.

Step 2: Custom design with 3D renderings

We turn the measurements into a design and show you 3D renderings of the cover on your actual home. You'll see the roof style, colors, and options like fans and lighting before anything is built. We revise until it looks right — it's much cheaper to change a rendering than a roof.

Step 3: Permits and HOA approvals — we handle all of it

This is the part homeowners dread, and the part you never have to touch. We prepare the engineering and plan submittals, file with your city, and manage HOA architectural applications and any revision requests.

Timelines, honestly: permit processing varies by city — in Corona it typically runs 4–8 weeks depending on project complexity and the city's current workload. Once your permit is approved, we schedule your install within 10–14 days.

Step 4: Installation day (1–2 days)

The physical build typically takes just one to two days. Our crew arrives in the scheduled window, sets up, and gets to work.

Clear the work area: move patio furniture, grills, and potted plants away the night before.
Make sure we have access: unlock side gates and tell us about access quirks (dogs, pool equipment, narrow passages).
Expect some noise — cutting and fastening aluminum isn't silent, but we're generally done within the day or two. We protect your landscaping, keep the site organized, and do a full cleanup before we leave.

    Step 5: Walkthrough and warranty

We walk the finished project with you, demonstrate the lights, fans, and switches, and hand over your warranty documentation. If anything needs attention after we're gone, you call us directly.

The short version: Consultation → 3D design → we handle permits and HOA → install scheduled within 10–14 days of permit approval → 1–2 day build → walkthrough.
